Our team of experts spans a unique mix of world-class scientists, mathematicians, physicists, data scientists and analytical experts. We hire the brightest minds and foster an environment that promotes creative problem solving. Our culture of collaboration spans across diverse backgrounds including academia. See what some of our people have to say and learn what it's like to work at NumerixS Quant.
Originally hailing from Toronto, William has always dreamed of being a university professor. However, after finishing his PhD and working as a postdoctoral researcher at two universities, he quickly realized a career in academia was not as accessible as he had hoped.
Will had to adapt his skills and target opportunities that would make use of his education, experience and passion for mathematics. Quantitative Equity Analysis felt like a natural shift for the young researcher. Will’s career change landed him at NumerixS where he spends his days solving complex mathematical problems in a collegial and academic atmosphere. The exact place where Will feels most comfortable.
When Will isn’t trying to solve some challenging conjecture or hypothesis, he can be found binging Netflix and stepping out for the occasional hike. And in the event that Will is nowhere to be found, you can expect him back in a few days. He loves a good road trip.
Tobias’ passion for mathematics began at an early age in a small German town near Madgeburg, where he attended a target school for Math and Sciences. Tobias was a high school academic competitor and boasts success on the national level. After graduating from high school, he left Germany to explore the world. Math and Science were his calling but he wasn’t sure yet how to translate it into a career.
Tobias completed his M.Sc in Mathematics at Oxford and a postdoc at UBC here in Vancouver. Most recently he completed his PhD in Mathematics from Warwick University.
The beautiful weather and mountain terrain drew Tobias to Vancouver. Whether it’s a day of climbing, skiing or hiking, Tobias is a certified Westcoaster.

Sebastiaan grew up in Ottawa, where he developed an early passion for mathematics and science. This interest led him to pursue engineering at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver.
During his studies, Sebastiaan discovered a strong interest in developing and applying software tools to better understand and solve complex engineering problems. To deepen his expertise, he completed a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, focusing on simulation software for aerodynamic analysis.
After graduating, Sebastiaan joined NumerixS, where he found a natural fit for his technical background and problem-solving mindset. Leveraging his experience in engineering and software development, he now applies his skills to new challenges in the field of quantitative finance.
Outside of work, Sebastiaan makes the most of Vancouver’s (occasional) sunshine. He enjoys playing hockey, golfing, and cycling.
Cheryl grew up in Calgary and worked as a programmer before attending law school at McGill University in Montreal
After that, the guy who is now her husband convinced her to get married and move to Australia, where her law practice was briefly interrupted by a move to the US to help take a $1B company public. Cheryl returned to private practice in the technology area specializing in cross-border M&A. Along the way she collected a US law degree with Order of the Coif, which is a real thing in the US but sounds like ‘quaff’ — to imbibe vigorously — much to the amusement of her Australian friends.
Most recently, Cheryl’s favourite foodie and sommelier lured her away from law but not away from her passion for leading high-performance teams.
As NumerixSQuant recently opened an office in the Caymans, if not at work, you can find Cheryl exploring the island with her husband.
Cheryl and NumerixSQuant have supported Science World of BC over the past several years with both time and financial contributions including this year as Chair of the Board.
Lisa grew up in Montreal before coming to Vancouver to attend the University of BC where she obtained a BA in English Literature. She went on to pursue advanced studies in accounting and finance, eventually articling with KPMG and earning a CPA.CA designation.
After many years of working with some of Vancouver’s largest public companies in the forestry, mining and financial services industries, Lisa switched gears and joined a small start-up company in the space industry. It was there that she first met Cheryl, while working on the acquisition of a foreign satellite company.
When not in a global pandemic, Lisa enjoys travelling to Europe, where she immerses herself in the art and culture and pretends to be a local (until she opens her mouth). She also enjoys reading, watercolour painting, and walks and bike rides on the seawall.
Jennifer’s passion for people and culture began early, driven by a genuine desire to help others. She has built a meaningful career in Talent Acquisition and HR, partnering with both late-stage startups and established companies to connect talented individuals with opportunities where they can truly thrive.
Raised in Vancouver, Jennifer has also lived in Ghana, Seattle, and Honduras. In Ghana, she gained hands-on experience as a Training Officer during an internship with the Coop Credit Union. Later, while living in Seattle, she worked at a large tech company, where she developed a passion for the technology sector. She has also called Honduras home, where she embraced her love for the ocean by completing her PADI Divemaster and Instructor programs.
Outside the office, Jennifer is a proud mom and chauffeur to her two children. She balances family life by staying active with running, Pilates, and gymnastics. She also gives back to her community by volunteering as a Girl Guides and Scouts leader, helping young people build confidence and leadership skills.
